Humphrey Ogu

An alumunus of Elechi Amadi School of Creative Writing, Humphrey Ogu holds a Bachelor’s degree in English, a Postgraduate diploma in Communication Studies and a MA in Communication Art. A poet, short fiction writer, Playwright, practising journalist, and editor, Ogu is the current Vice Chairman of the Rivers State branch of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), and had earlier served as its Public Relations Officer and Secretary respectively at different times. He was the founding Secretary of Seaview Poetry Society, a body of poets that have been reading poems on Rythm 93.7 FM, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, since 2005. His second collection of Poems, Echoes of Neglect, which won the Elechi Amadi Poetry Prize in 2014, was one of the 11 books of poems nominated for the NLNG-sponsored Nigerian Prize for Literature in 2017. The book is a recommended text in poetry at the University level in Nigeria. Ogu currently works as Senior Information Officer in the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
